Marriage is like a series – it has seasons. Many of them. Actually, it is rather like a year because the seasons of marriage include spring, summer, autumn, and winter. How do you thrive in each of them and not get cold during marital winter? This article will give you some tips.

What Are Seasons of Marriage?
Seasons of marriage are simply stages of love, passion, and bond. It is normal for the honeymoon stage not to last forever, and it is wise to work on a marriage all year long.
People wrongly assume that if it is meant to be, it will always feel light and good. But the saying from the Bible applies here and it sounds: “You’ll reap what you sow”. It is important to put some effort into a relationship, especially in warmer seasons so then, when the gloomy days come, you have lots of warmth to keep yourself from freezing.
In this article, we will analyze every season of marriage and talk about tips on how to thrive in each one.
Summer – When Passion Is Steamy Hot
Summer usually happens during the falling in love stage, and the honeymoon period. But it comes back once in a while, if we only remember to be intentional.
If you work on planting when it is all so effortless, soon enough you will discover a beautiful garden growing.
The worst thing you can do is to assume that if it is good now, it will be good forever. Now is the time to work on your relationship through marriage books, retreats, and conversations. Getting to know each other’s wants and needs is a key to successful marriage. Then you don’t need to guess but know what to focus on.
But also, it is never good to put too much pressure on yourself – the summer of marriage is there to be enjoyed! Have fun, laugh, and make beautiful memories. It is also part of preparing for colder seasons.
Autumn – Cozy and Chilly Season
Autumn of marriage does not need to be boring – sure, the emotions are lower, and everything calms down. But this time can be used for bonding, deep conversations, and creating a cozy routine.
If you are experiencing a temporary drop of passion, remember it is all normal – it means your love is maturing. Embrace this season, and still work on your garden.
If you were working hard during the summer, in this season you might harvest sweet pumpkins in your relationship – the fruit that adds charm to this already wonderful and deep season.
Winter – Dark and Cold
Many people, when they experience the winter of the marriage, feel like it is all over, and the love is out. Well, it is a lie. Yes, this season is definitely the hardest, but it does not mean it is the end of the adventures.
Again, if you use warmer seasons to plant, you will have a lot of material to warm the winter up.
It is just natural that through daily routine, problems, and simply time your relationship can get less exciting. It just means it is growing. I mean, if you were always in the summer, you would start missing winter pretty quickly 🙂
It is a wonderful and stable season – but also a test for the two of you. Just like during summer – do not fall into the trap of thinking it will be always be that way.
It is soon to pass – because there is another season on its way:
Spring – Sweet and Blooming
After the winter is gone, spring knocks on your door. It is sweet, and it feels like you are falling in love with your spouse again. You survived the worst, now it’s time for the best.
Embrace this time of blooming and growing together – because that’s the effect of your efforts in the previous seasons.
If you want a fruitful spring – make sure other seasons are full of planting!
Spring comes very often in the marriages that truly put some effort. It’s a reward for all the work I suppose.
Embrace All Seasons of Marriage
Hot, warm, chilly, cold – these are all natural stages of the relationship. I think we can learn a lesson from each of them.
And most importantly, they all are beautiful.
Because love is more than just a pleasurable summer – it is complex and full of surprises. My wish and prayer is for you to enjoy all of them.
